In Conclusion
Overall I have to say I have enjoyed Wild Kingdom especially creating my final images, I am really pleased with the final result and the photos that have come out of it. I love drawing so coming up with new designs with inspiration from magazines and fashion shows was fun. I also like the idea of tattoos now and have a broader understanding of each tribe, I especially was interested into the Native Americans and the history behind the headdress. If i could change anything about my final images it would be to have practised the hair for my editorial shoot more but I was very pleased with the outcome of my image. I also wished I had made more face charts so show more progression with my project than I did.
Timed Assessment
Fo my timed assessment I was paired with Victoria and recreated her design on my model Rose.
These were her face designs.
I really enjoyed doing this assessment, I liked the way you could recreate someone elses design, and I liked seeing how she did my design on her own model.

Final Images Editorial
I think the hair worked really well for my final images, her hair was so long so took a while to pin it all up but pinning the extensions on looked really good, even though they weren't the same colour as her hair I thought this added a better effect with some of the light parts showing through around the buns, I did the hair first as I thought this would take longer and would be better doing the make up with it out of her face. I decided against the pattern on her cheeks as after doing it I thought it looked better with just the contoured cheeks so took it off. I used two different necklaces and just had her in a strapless top. In this image I found the eyeliner the hardest to do as you need a really steady hand to get the line straight, also to get both eyes even. I highlighted her cheekbone using a white eyeshadow which looked really good under the studio lights.
Final Images Editorial
I am really pleased with how this photo came out, I'm glad I decided to use the necklace over her head as it added some colour to the picture along with the beads and the colours of them looking tribal. I drew out my design on the head firstly in a light pencil then went over it with a black eyeliner and then with paint just making sure each line was straight. A.J had the perfect hair and eyebrows for this picture and I really enjoyed doing her make-up.
I just thought this picture looked really good and so natural and thats why i wanted to include it in my final images.
Models
These are my beautiful models i will be using for my shoots!
A.J will be my model for the catwalk image, I'm really looking forward to seeing how the finished make-up will look on her!
Steph, my model for the editorial look, she has the most amazing long hair which will look great in the mohican.
Both my models have really good skin and very photogenic.

Editorial Design
This is my chosen design for my editorial shoot, I wanted this photo to mainly focus on the eyes, with dark brown eyeshadow up to the eyebrows forming a straight box like look going round the eyesocket and fading out, on the eyelid I wanted a white/cream colour. Then a bold black line going over the eyelid and following down by the nose, with a brown shadow going round and fading out. The eyebrows just above in black. I have brown pattern going down the cheeks getting smaller. The lips I wanted in a orange/brown colour, finally the base a normal colour with bronzer contouring the cheek bones.
I then developed the eyebrows to look bigger and more brushed up i thought this would look better on my final photo.
I am doing the mohican hairstyle we learnt in class, I thought it looked so good and how you can weave different materials or coloured hair into it, this is how I started sectioning the hair going down into small ponytails which I then backbrushed and curled inwards to make the hair bigger before I put the extensions in, I did this with every ponytail. Then using my extensions I would weave them through each bun.
Catwalk Design
This is my chosen final deisgn for the make up, I got my inspiration from Qasimi's Fall/Winter show in 2011.
I decided I wanted the eyebrows painted over black joining onto the design on the head with a straight line going towards the outside. I did the forehead in black i thought this stood out more and would look better on my model. I really liked the idea of the lips being plain with a black strip going down the middle just on the bottom lip, also the eyes being bare so focus wasnt taken from the pattern on her head.
This is how I want the hair for my catwalk image, inspired by Alexander Mcqueens Fall 2000-2001 show, I loved the way the hair was stuck down in a middle parting, and mine would go out at the sides and be backbrushed to create the firm matted look.
While practising this hair style I decided it could look abit boring, so I found a necklace from top shop which goes down the front of your stomach and thought this could look good draped round the hair.
Catwalk Moodboard
This is my catwalk moodboard it includes a few catwalk shows that have inspired me towards my final designs. I loved the idea of tattos on the face and arms.
Editorial Moodboard
This is my editorial moodboard, these were some images where I though the make up looked really good, I love how they have interpreted the colour into the make-up and decorated the hair with feathers in the bottom right and how the make-up is normal in the middle but the theme of gold accessories and lots of them going up the neck gives a modern tribal theme. In top left i noticed she had a tattoo on her arm abit like the photos from rodarte's show.
The feather headdress was an accessorie I saw in topshop!
I cant wait to do my editorial shoot after seeing all these images!!
Accessories!
For my final images I want tribal accessories! Ive been collecting together some jewellery which I think would look good, big chunky bracelets and beaded necklaces I also love the look of hair accessories and headdresses.
I love the look of bracelets going all the way up the arm.
Beads are very popular within african tribes and the colours stand out so much, today we would normally just wear one necklace but they go above and beyond with hundreds!

Jean-Luc Moerman
Jean-Luc Moerman is a belgian artist who draws on top of photographs of models and famous people, giving the effect of tattoos and body art. Personally i think his work looks amazing and can really change the look of a picture. It has really made me want to try it out myself on some magazines.
Here are a few photos of his work which were my favourites.
Although I think the facial ones are good how he has worked round each part of the face like round the eyes and mouth. my favourite has to be how he does the body art, I think it can change someones appearance so much, I love the look of tattoed sleeves, this could be a great way of decided whether you want a tattoo or not by drawing over a picture of yourself.

Qasimi 2011 Fall/Winter
These photos are from Qasimi's menswear collection in Paris in 2011. This was inspired by future tribalism.
This show has given me so much inspiration, I LOVE the patterns on their heads and I can't wait to try out some of my own deisgns, I think it would look great for a catwalk image.
The white on the face looks good but the black is so much more effective and really stands out, from far away it could be quite hard to see the white.
All of the models have their hair scraped back for this show but for my final image i would want the hair to be crazy instead of just simple and boring.
Tribal Piercings
Nowadays Piercings are generally there because we think they look good, rarely we have a ear piercing to sympolise bravery or strength.
Earlobe stretching is very common in african tribes both men and women stretch their earlobes using hollow discs and hang beads a jewelry from the holes that have been created.
Nowadays these are called plugs and lost of young people are getting them and stretching to a size that just looks horrible! please people keep them small noone likes a saggy ear lobe.
I have actually been quite squeamish when researching into this im finding it hard to get pictures that i can bring myself to save.
In my opinion I dont think plugs look attractive and it has to hurt, everyone has a different perspective on piercings though.
I had to hide my tongue bar from my parents, got away with it for 6 months till I was caught I'm told its hideous on a regular basis.

The Native Americans
This is a typical headdress worn by a Native American chief. The side part almost looks like earings or even a dreamcatcher!
I think with these the bigger the better! Mainly makes me think of Pocohontas, embarrassing but true.
The headress was very important to the Native Americans and whoever wore it got the upmost respect, it usually shows bravery, and a feather was gained on each brave act and when there was enough it would be made into a headdress, the golden eagle feather was the most significant of them all.
It can be a range of different colours or all the same generally depending on which area the tribe lived.
Each Native American tribe had different designs and patterns painted onto their face, they all used natural products as they appriciated nature such as clay, mud and plants. Each colour they wore meant something, Black symbolised living, red for danger and war, white for peace and they believed green under the eyes would give night wision.
This is a picture of Karlie Kloss a Victoria Secret model who wore a headdress down to the floor during their annual show. Victoria secret were said to have appologised as the outfit was criticised as a display of ignorance towards tribal culture and history.
Tribal Inspired Music Videos
Kelis - Acapella
This video is so good for current tribal interpretations, the headress she wears at the beginning looks incredible with the long feathers coming out the top, it has made me want to research into the native americans! I also really like the jewels around her eyes at the beginning looks beautiful. This is a really good video to study while trying out different ideas for a modern take on the tribes.
Beyonce - Run The World
Tribal references in this video only really apply at the beginning with her accessories and headpiece, she looks so regal while wearing it.
Kanye West - Love Lockdown
Throughout the video it looks as if they are all different trribes, at first I thought they looked similar to the skeleton tribe. All the male ones look like warriors.
Rodarte Spring 2010
Laura Mulleavy and sister Kate did the Rodarte show inspired by Death Valley and Vultures, Go Goth Tribal Warrior. Dry ice smoke filled the room while the models walked across a crunchy black sand.
I love how all the arms are painted! Its such a good effect for the show along with all the models having different designs up their arms it really inspired me to have a go at it myself.
Each model had their arms in tribal tattoos, dark lips and their hair wrapped up into a webbed wool. Their cheeks were contoured but no blush the eyes also are left bare with only a darker eye shadow.
Heres some designs i did from drawing onto a magazine, my friend even looked through and said oohh I love her tights!
